About Southwest Medical Psychology
Welcome! My practice is based on the belief that change is possible at every phase of our lives. I specialize in working with medical and surgical patients who may need some psychological or behavioral assistance before surgery as well as after surgery.
I also provide therapy for patients with chronic pain (be sure to visit www.azptc.com), who are undergoing chemotherapy, PTSD, and also for the patient who is terminally ill. Treatment options include the use of behavior modification, relaxation, and cognitive-behavioral therapy, as well as schema-focused cognitive psychotherapy for more enduring issues. Patients who have sustained traumatic brain injury (TBI) are also welcome in my practice which includes cognitive rehabilitation using multiple methods to achieve the maximum recovery of cognitive function possible.
Achieving your physical and mental health-related goals, whether adjusting to a new life after bariatric surgery, learning to live with chronic pain, or gently accepting life's final developmental phase, all these are goals worth pursuing. For the medical or surgical patient, my years as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room, as well as my training as a Clinical Psychologist, provide an effective combination of medical knowledge and compassionate psychotherapy.
